Back in the good, old days, it was easy to run and hide. You could say something or even do something and pretend it never happened. Records used to vanish without a trace, even official records; sometimes they caught fire. Those were the days. It was easy to run and hide. Then came the and the odd acronyms of funny, unpronounceable things (what a cache anyways?). Suddenly you could not hide. Not anymore. Because some tech savvy whiz kid was sure to find a record of every word of wisdom you ever put out on the including things you thought you had deleted long back ( mean they can still get to stuff even after emptying my Recycle Bin? ^%! so it happened that a report that may have been picked up from another publication went live on a particular website apparently by mistake, with these damning words in the main body: The orders were allegedly to target Aditi restaurant in Parel which was allegedly issuing receipts making fun of the UPA government. That such marching orders may have come from the Congress HQ was deeply disturbing to say the least. I promptly posted the news on twitter. A few hours later when I clicked on the link, the offending words seemed to have vanished. Vanished without a trace! No mention at all. For a brief moment, I wondered if I was imagining things. Then, I remembered the whiz kids! Within minutes of putting out a request for help, I managed to get my hands on the original report as it had appeared a few hours back. Sure enough, the words were there. Congress workers had indeed claimed that orders to shut Aditi restaurant had come from the party headquarters in Delhi. In normal times, such an order from any party headquarter would attract headlines and lead to frenzied panel discussions, op eds, debates, and screaming headlines. None of this happened. Instead, there was thunderous silence. A few days later, another report went live on the website of a leading newspaper. Referring to the Railway scam, the headline read: Gandhi has given his go ahead, so be sure of the appointment The news report mentioned that names of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had cropped up several times in phone transcripts unearthed by CBI in the Railways jobs for cash scandal. This was explosive stuff. Again, the frenzy and the din that would have normally accompanied such headlines was missing. All we had was the deafening silence of complicity. Sometime over the next few hours, the report disappeared. It is no longer available on the website of the newspaper. But someone had forgotten the whiz kids and the power of web caches. Within a few hours, the whole episode was neatly documented. The original report is now on the web. You can run but you can hide Someday, mainstream media will realise this. Until then, we have the whiz kids. Shantanu Bhagwat (aka B Shantanu) is a political activist, advisor to start ups, seed investor, one time VC and ex Indian Foreign Service officer. Selecting paint colors for a boy's room is not just about the wall color. It is about choosing a theme and building on that theme to create a bedroom that is stimulating and fun. Since most of the house is adult oriented, give your boy a room that is especially for him. Let your imagination and his run wil Basing the paint color on a theme is a great place to start. What are his interests, hobbies or favorite activities? Does he like astrology, dinosaurs or sports? Choose a base color for the walls such as blue for astrology or green for dinosaurs. From there, create murals or add wallpaper borders to enhance the theme. Start with a themed border and pull a color from there for the walls. If he likes to swim, paint the walls like a turquoise sea and add colors of vibrant sea life in accents throughout the room. If your boy likes sports, let the colors of his favorite team play center field on his walls. There are endless themes that can be applied to boys' rooms. Bring him into the decision. Find out what he wants and adapt from there. If he's old enough, hand him a paintbrush and let him be a part of the process. Make it an adventure for you and him. Colors for children's rooms no longer adhere to blue for boys and pink for girls. Blue is still a popular color in boys' rooms but there are so many other options for color. Today's trends speak of the bright colors of fruit, such as lemon yellow, lime green and apple red. You may want to use these colors in moderation, such as an accent wall. If he's old enough, have the boy select the color or theme. If he's not quite old enough to decide on a color, show him familiar objects and let him pick his favorite. For example, show him a rainbow or a few selections from a box of Crayons. Have the boy pick his favorite toy and use that as a color inspiration. If he has a collection, such as trains or even stamps, let this lead the way for an inspiring color selection. For teenage boys, a neutral color may be more his style. Neutral colors are versatile and will carry him through his teenage years without seeming too youthful. Colors such as beige, taupe, gray or even certain shades of blue or green provide a background that allows you to change the other elements in a room as your boy grows up. But don't stop there. Create visual interest with a mural, which is much more attractive than posters pinned to the wall. Many people believe that color affects mood. In this case, you will need to be aware of the psychological associations of certain colors. For example, blue is known for its calming properties. Green is restful yet refreshing for its connotation of nature. Red is believed to raise blood pressure and heart rate, which could result in your boy being a little hyperactive. Yellow is a happy, stimulating color. But the wrong shade can over energize, perhaps making it difficult for your boy to calm down. If you choose a color that influences hyperactivity or other undesirable behavior, using it in moderation is generally the best solution. There are a few practical factors to keep in mind when choosing paint colors for a boy's room. Choose paints that are washable to enable easy clean up of those dirty smudges and handprints made by the active boy. You may even consider darker colors, as they do not show dirt as much. An eggshell or semi gloss finish makes for smoother wiping. Most paints available today are safe for use in children's rooms. There is no longer the worry about lead content and toxic fumes with latex paints. Want to get really creative? Apply specialty paints and watch him have fun. There are some really innovative paint formulas on the market now. There is glow in the dark paint, which is great for creating galaxies and star systems on the ceiling. Your boy will enjoy lying in bed at night, gazing at the stars. Glitter paint is another great choice for ceilings, creating a dazzling display especially in lamplight. Metallic paint can really be interesting when used within a themed boy's room. Paint his walls silver to create a spaceship interior and paint the ceiling with stars. Imagine his delight when it's time to turn off the lights! Want to let a boy show his magnetism? Paint the walls with a magnetic paint. This innovative new product is a water based primer that turns surfaces into magnets. Apply in several coats for increased magnetism. The paint is non toxic and lead free. It can be used on walls and wood, so you can even paint the closet doors and trim with this primer. Once you've applied 2 3 coats of the magnetic primer, paint the walls the color you've selected. Your boy will be able to affix notes or favorite photos to the walls with magnets. Is your boy a budding artist? Try chalkboard paint. Mostly available in only black or green, there are now a few manufacturers that offer custom tinting. However, the color options are limited. Chalkboard paint is an easily cleaned water based paint that actually makes any wall or other smooth surface a chalkboard. Let your boy express himself by applying this on part of a wall and construct a border with wood trim. Or if you're really game, apply chalkboard paint to the entire room and set free the Picasso in your boy. With a little imagination, selecting paint colors for a boy's room can be an adventure. With your boy's input and your know how, you can create a bedroom that will be interesting, fun and completely unique to him. He can escape to his room and sail the high seas or take a space shuttle to explore the universe. Your boy can illustrate his artistic side or travel back to prehistoric times and roam with dinosaurs. The options are endless. It may even be easier getting him to bed! Men Nike Free Run 2 Turquoise Gold Black White,Take off all the pairs of shoes from your closet. Match them together with their mates and place them in a box, which would work great as well. Assign 1 pair for each box. Remove any pairs you have not worn in the past few years; you maybe would not wear them again. Clean the pairs that are exhausted and can't be used anymore. Men Nike Free Run 2 Turquoise Gold Black White Blondie was originally the strip's focal point, they just never bothered to change the title. She wasn't married to Dagwood at all; it was just a strip about a single girl living it up in the city. The series began in the early 30s, and Blondie was a "flapper chick" with the dignified last name of Boopadoop. She was always better than Dagwood deserved. Newspaper readers weren't exactly interested in the misadventures of a fun loving single girl in the glitzy city, who liked having rich gentlemen callers. They bought the paper to read the news, look for jobs and maybe boil it later to add much needed texture to their shoe leather burritos. So the series was reformatted, and Blondie's beau at the time of the change, Dagwood Bumstead, asked her to marry him so they could settle down. But there was a problem: Even Dagwood was originally a wealthy socialite and they first had to bankrupt the pair. The ensuing storyline had Dagwood's parents disowning the couple because they considered Blondie a skank, well below their social standing. Now that Dagwood was on his own financially, he got a mid level job working for Mr. Dithers, he and Blondie got hitched, and his wacky, eating disorder hijinks became the series' main focus. It says a lot about the priorities of the time: People were so despondent that, even in fantasy, they couldn't set their sights higher than a steady, crappy job, a comfortable couch and a giant sandwich. Wow! That's a story I can relate to! Tell us about the bread again, mister . 2. Popeye Was a Minor Side Character to Olive Oyl Popeye is the ultimate underdog and the champion of everyone's least favorite canned vegetable. We all know the basic premise of a Popeye the Sailor Man short: Popeye tries to woo the rail thin Olive Oyl, Bluto (professional bully at large) beats Popeye up and kidnaps Olive Oyl, Popeye eats some spinach and beats Bluto nearly to death. Remember kids, hurting people will make women love you. The comic strip that originated Popeye actually had nothing to do with him. The strip in question was called Thimble Theater and didn't feature the titular sailor at all. It did, however, feature Olive Oyl, her brother Castor and her boyfriend Harold Hamgravy (later shortened to just Ham Gravy). Seriously, this is just getting sad people were really hungry back then. Even the villains just wanted a modest meal. Ten years into Thimble Theater's run, Ham and Castor set out on a trip to an island casino. They needed a boat that needed a sailor, and that's where they first encountered Popeye. But reader reaction to the burly curmudgeon was so positive that he was brought back and given an expanded role. Thimble Theater's popularity sky rocketed, Castor was given the axe, Olive was relegated to the background and Ham Gravy changed his name and went on to become President of these United States. 1. Beetle Bailey Wasn't in the Army Beetle Bailey is a sad sack of a soldier who is perpetually stuck in basic training, and often physically abused by Drill Sergeant Snorkel. Somehow that's supposed to be funny, and not the first half of Full Metal Jacket. It had nothing to do with the Army. Though Bailey was always the title character, his original moniker was "Spider," and the strip was about the wacky shenanigans of a kid going to college. The standards for "wacky shenanigans" were a lot lower back then. So what happened? Well, early on in the series, Beetle "accidentally" joined the Army. This was meant to be a one off storyline poking fun at military life. But with America just entering into the Korean War at the time, Beetle's military antics proved especially popular so it was decided he would not return to school after all. He was stuck in the Army, against his will. With a depressing use of reverse psychology Since enduring the horrors of war isn't exactly "wacky," Beetle is a member of the only infantry unit to never leave basic training. It's not exactly exploring new ground by trying to find humor amidst violence and tragedy it's just a constant rehashing of old gags with Army life as little more than a novel backdrop. Though credit should be given: Beetle Bailey is, to this day, the only comic strip based on the complete and permanent destruction of a child's dreams for a better life.
