When I was first hired by EV1Servers, I sent then CEO Robert Marsh a loooong wish list for internal apps. One item near the top was a dynamic customer map. If I were going to a conference in Chicago or visiting friends in Portland, wouldn it be cool to find out which major customers are nearby? If 50 companies from a certain city lease 1000 total servers from EV1, shouldn we fly out there to meet with these folks and see if they have contacts who might be interested in our services? There was no Google Maps API back then, so building such a tool didn seem feasible. But now that there a Flickr layer and a Wikipedia layer on Google Earth (I read about those in this O Radar post) and map mashups for everything from apartment rents to handmade jewelry, why not do the same for your customer base? You could use an internal map that shows customer count, server count, support ticket volume, recent orders and cancellations by location. In addition to identifying sales opportunities, the map could also help set content localization priorities. If customers in China seem to submit an unusual number of tickets for very basic issues, maybe they appreciate a Chinese FAQ. More interestingly, you could offer customers the (optional, of course) ability to put themselves on a public map. For instance, Etsy, an arts and crafts marketplace, has a geolocator where buyers can find local sellers. Your customer map could have an ecommerce layer for retailers, a web services layer for developers and designers, a local vendors layer for doctors, lawyers and plumbers I guessing there are hundreds if not thousands of GoDaddy and 1 and DreamHost and BlueHost customers in just about any major city. It costs very little to encourage these companies to do business with one another, but hosting providers could earn major brownie points (and longer lasting customers relationships) by facilitating these connections. PS On a totally unrelated note, I just read on Wired that there a Santa tracking layer on Google Earth. Factors to consider:100% Barchart technical buy signal. Trend Spotter buy signal. Above its 20, 50 and 100 day moving averages. 5 new highs and up 4.22% in the last month. Relative Strength Index is 67.34% and rising. Trades around 62.06 with a 50 day moving average of 58.95. Fundamental Factors: Wall Street brokerage analysts have released 5 strong buy, 4 buy, 10 hold and 3 negative reports. Sales are projected to increase by 7.70% this year and another 7.50% next year. Double digit earnings increases are forecasted with an increase of 17.00% this year, 12.00% next year and 15.97% annually for the next 5 years. General Investor Sentiment: There are 341 readers giving an opinion on the stock on Motley Fool and 94% are looking for the stock to beat the market. CAPS members vote 238 to 14 for that result. The more experienced All Stars agree with an 84 to 5 vote. Summary: All the automotive repair stocks have done well during the recession as the average mileage on vehicles on the roads has continued to climb. Higher miles more repairs. Analysts are softening their projections for several reasons. Higher gas prices mean less driving. New car sales increases mean the average mileage of cars on the road may come down. If the analysts projections for the increases in sales and earnings continue investors could see an annual total return in the 15% to 20% range for O"Reilly Automotive.

A campus board has a series of wooden sticks, essentially, that are all numbered from one at the bottom all the way to the top. This is to build finger strength and explosive power. This can be used in a number of ways. First Caitlin will demonstrate more of a beginner technique, her feet are still on the ground, she's kind of sagging away from the campus board and she moves from one campus rung to another, up and down, again this is for finger strength core tension. For a mid section there's a number of different ways you can move the hands that's a more dynamic way. And now when you are more advanced you will climb without your feet. This is to gather explosive upper body strength. So as Caitlin moves up she is not using her feet. You can do this both up and down for the negative. Do this in a variety of ways and that's campus boarding." The mastermind of the talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) is the incumbent president, Juan Manuel Santos. His opponent Oscar Ivan Zuluaga is fiercely opposed to the negotiations The rebel army rose up nearly 50 years ago as part of an insurrection by poor farmers in a country with a huge gap between haves and have nots. The moment of truth has come for Santos, who says the talks, which began in November 2012 in Havana, are in their "final phase." As he seeks a second four year term, Santos is running neck and neck with Zuluaga in public opinion polls. Santos, 62, has couched Sunday's election in simple yet big stakes terms. He says voters must choose between "the end of the conflict or an endless conflict." Beaten in the first round of voting on May 25, the centre right Santos has managed to rally leftist parties albeit opposed to his free market economic policies by promising to spend more on social welfare issues. His campaign website says that the "cost of the war" with the leftist rebels is nearly $300, the minimum monthly wage in Colombia, per second. Santos is promising to do more to help poor people, "the ones victimized by the war", in a country where a third of the population of 47 million lives in poverty, even though the economy is growing more than four percent a year. "Social issues are more visible but they remain linked to peace, which the president has kept as the central pillar of his campaign," said political scientist Patricia Munoz Yi, a professor at Javeriana University in Bogota. Zuluaga meanwhile is trying to cash in on some Colombians skepticism over the negotiations with the FARC, which are ongoing despite the lack of a ceasefire between the two sides. Zuluaga, a 55 year old former finance minister, says he backs "peace with conditions" and accuses the president of offering the guerrillas impunity. That prospect touches a raw nerve in Colombia. The conflict, a violent cocktail of rebels, paramilitary militia and criminal gangs, has left more than 220,000 people dead and forced five million people to leave their homes. Zuluaga has said he will "review" agreements reached so far in the peace talks on reform to distribute land more equitably among the poor and rich, letting former guerrillas get involved in politics, fighting drug trafficking and offering retribution to victims of the conflict. But since the first round of the presidential election, Zuluaga has softened his tone. He no longer says he would immediately suspend talks with the FARC. And he now says he would give the FARC rebels a month not just a week to surrender their weapons. The FARC have not responded to these demands, simply renewing a temporary truce for the run off.
